The American Legion provides support and hope for all our veterans, even those who have been incarcerated. Red Willow County Veteran Service Office Mike Simmonds and Vicki "House Mouse" Leibbrandt have coordinated with the Work Ethic Camp to form a detachment of McCook Legion Post 203 for veterans housed in the WEC.

Each year, members for American Legion Post 203 deliver Christmas cards to local veterans in assisted living facilities to offer holiday cheer and goodwill.

Veterans get free admission to Men's and Women's Basketball games vs. The Community College. Veterans also get free chili at the Dick Driml Chili Cook-off taking place in the Auxiliary Gym of the Peter and Dolores Graff Event Center. Please join us to honor our veterans.

Members of McCook American Legion Post 203 and any interested community members gather at McCook Cemetery to place flags at the headstones of Veterans. We meet at 9am and continue until flags are placed.

Members of McCook American Legion Post 203 honor American veterans with a service and ceremony at the McCook Cemetery. Guest Speaker this year is John Hilgert, director of the Nebraska Department of Veteran Affairs, Gulf War Army veteran with the 1st Infantry Division, and former Omaha state senator. All are welcomed to attend.
