American Legion Asks for Workers to support "Adopt-A-Chaplain" 

November 6, 2022

"Adopt- A - Chaplain" workers are needed for packing boxes of items to be sent to deployed military chaplains. The location is in the basement of Peace Lutheran Church, 411 East 6th Street in McCook. If you are willing and able to help, please call Linda Nielsen at 308 340 2800 and let her know which day and time you can help.

Workers are needed at the following dates and times: Thursday evening November 10th at 7:00 PM (supper will be provided if you would like to attend). Friday morning November 11th at 10:00 AM.

Please help support this worthwhile cause.

Eugene Koch Receives American Legion School Talk Award

The American Legion Department of Nebraska sponsors "Operation School Talk" to educate and inform local youth on the principles and programs of The American Legion and our proud military service. Post 203 Legionnaire Eugene Koch is pictured receiving his award from Post Adjutant Chris Mehringer.

American Legion Commemorates Flag Day by Presenting New Flags to McCook Community College

June 14, 2022

American Legion Post 203 members presented McCook Community College with a new American flag and a new Nebraska state flag at a brief ceremony held at McMillen Hall on Flag Day. Post Commander, Dan Strammel said of the event, "The presentation celebrates Flag Day, as well as gratitude for the college allowing the Legion post to use the facility as a meeting place." 

McCook Community College has been a partner to veterans in McCook and surrounding communities. MCC has hosted POW/MIA Day commemorations, Veterans Day events, and Veteran Appreciation Days for veterans and their families at athletic events.

Members of McCook American Legion Post 203 and any interested community members gather at McCook Cemetery to place flags at the headstones of Veterans. We meet at 9am and continue until all flags are placed.

Members of McCook American Legion Post 203 honor American veterans with a service and ceremony at the McCook Cemetery. Our guest speaker this year is Lieutenant Colonel Rye, US Army. All are welcomed to attend.

Members of McCook American Legion Post 203 and any interested community members gather at McCook Cemetery to collect flags and prepare them for safe storage. We meet at 4pm and continue until flags are stowed.
